OUTFIT OF THE DAY: The Royal Blue Threads & Motifs Dress

I wore this a little while ago to a wedding reception, and decided to go for something light and chic rather than the usual bling I go for! I bought this pret outfit last year by Threads and Motifs, a brand my sisters and I have always loved because of the high quality of embroidery on their outfits, and their very wearable pieces - we each have a few of this brand's outfits in our wardrobes.

This is the outfit that I wore, a rich royal blue dress with embroidery on the front and back. The outfit came with matching churidar pants, but I wanted to go for a different look (also is it just me always getting my big food stuck in churidar pants?!), so I opted for tailored white trousers instead. I thought this would give more of a summery look, and also look quite light and playful (or otherwise make me think I'm on holiday, which is good too!)

Here's the outfit and what I accessorised with, I decided to pick out the black and gold accents, and also make use of the Valentino Rockstuds my husband bought me! I don't usually wear a lot of black, but I though these complemented the outfit and brought it together well.

This is me wearing the outfit, which was a really comfy fit on me. I really liked how light and easy this outfit was to wear, and made a change from the heavier outfits I usually go for with weddings. I also liked the shape of the hemline, which wasn't too long and gave a nice girly look to the outfit.

Trousers - River Island
Clutch bag - LYDC
Bangles - Warehouse

All in all, this was a fun outfit because it was colourful and summery and very comfortable. I've always been a fan of the Threads and Motifs brand because it is fairly affordable (although I have noticed that a lot of UK shops sell the same outfits for a higher amount!) and because I have always gotten a lot of wear out of each outfit I have.

I'm also liking the brand's more floral and colourful pieces which have been coming up in their newer collections recently, such a floral embroidered and printed skirts, silk print kurta and embroidered trousers - I already have a few of these on my wish-list!

Curly Fry's Shopping Therapy! Threads & Motif Love

I love the Threads and Motif brand - my sisters and I all have at least one or two outfits which we've gotten good use out of, and which we always get compliments for.

I bought these two lovelies last weekend from Rubys House of Design in East London, which carried branded designer wear, and which had a sale on . I'll post more about my Eid shopping experience soon - but aren't these lovely?

Our Eid! Day Two

I meant to post this a couple of days ago, but I've barely managed to go near my computer for a couple of days, so don't worry, I'm not neglecting the blog! I'm still waiting to post loads more posts and keep trying to hide away to blog!

My family and I always like to make the most of Eid (plus some of us can be divas), so we always celebrate Eid for at least two days - which means we get to see all of the family and it also makes it easier for everyone in terms of cooking if we don't spend all day at one house. (Having said that, I didn't make anything for Eid but I'm sure my turn will be coming up soon!)

For the second day of Eid, I decided to wear an outfit that my mother-in-law had gotten made for me in Pakistan. It was a special outfit because it was the first one she had gotten made for me, and also her favourite one, and also one that I loved when I saw because I'd been hankering after a cream and gold outfit for ages and this one was lovely. I'm sure you've seen shorter hemlines creeping back into fashion, and jackets are also pretty trendy right now, so this was right up my street - a jamwar undershirt with a delicate pearl and stone-work jacket on top.

This is me wearing it - it looks simple but it actually felt really heavy on, and I forgot to take a picture of the back, which was a lot heavier than the front because it had work all along the hemline and working its way up to the top. I paired this with gold shoes and sparkly bangles and a matching cream hijab - I wanted to wear some more pearly jewellery but I didn't have any with me (except my wedding jewellery which was too heavy!) so I kep the look simple which, worked for me.

You can tell my husband took most of these pictures, I'm posing awkwardly in most of them and I look like a shorty because my husband forgot that he was taking pictures at his eye level! (I'll teach him how to take pictures, don't worry)

My sisters also had a beautiful wardrobe palette for the day - everyone wore beautiful outfits with bright colours and amazing embroidery, which was nice to see everyone dressed up. I love the hot pink Threads and Motif outfit my eldest sister chose to wore (my mum, my aunt and I have all been lusting after it)

One outfit we all loved was the green long maxi one of my sisters bought for Eid - I couldn't get a decent picture of the front (because she kept running away and hiding), but I got this sneaky shot so you can see the shape of her dress.

And of course the babies and nieces of the babie stole the show as usual - my eldest sister dressed her girls in beautiful flowery dresses, and my sister-in-law dressed her little one in a sparkly grey party dress, and my other sister dressed up her little girl in a pretty coral polka dot dress. You can see some of the dresses below (and also a picture of me fascinating one of my nieces into doing a selfie!) - the newest arrival looked like a little doll in her dress!

And naturally we had to do the couple shots - it was my husband and my first Eid after marriage so I wanted to get some nice shots for memories (and some silly shots later on as well!).

Lucky for me, Eid is not completely over, I have an Eid party to go to this weekend which means more food and dressing up, which I'll post about soon!

My Eid...! Day #1

This Eid was was a fairly quiet one, spent with family, with all of us eating a lot of good food, taking silly photographs, playing with the babies in the family and generally having a good evening. The night before Eid (on Chand Raat), we were invited for dinner at my sister's house, which meant a good start to the Eid celebrations  (not to mention some yummy food!).

Here's what I wore, a deep bluey-indigo Threads and Motif outfit that I got stitched a few months ago (I looked for something new to wear in the shops before Eid, but didn't see anuthing I liked, so ended up with this instead!). I paired this with sparkly heels and some gold jewellery, but otherwise kept it fairly simple as I didn't want a fussy look.

Here's me wearing the outfit, which you can see was a simple, long kameez with straight, raw silk trousers for a very comfy, simple look (sorry for the grainy pictures, I didn't manage to get very many good images!) I love the embroidery on this outfit, which looked really pretty and neatly done, and didn't catch on anything the way metal-work does!

And here's some of the things that we did (and ate!) on the evening, which was also on my niece's first birthday, so we had plenty of pretty cupcakes and presents - not to mention some ooh-ing and aahh-ing at everyone's outfits, least of all my sister's beautiful Choos!

OUTFIT Of The Day: Red Velvet Threads & Motif Dress

Thought I'd do something a  bit more varied and show you girls what I've been wearing in terms of the less dressier outfits (although perhaps not too casual to the point of showing off my pyjamas just yet!), and what I would recommend or some personal favourites from my wardrobe

Here's something I wore today to a party that I went to with my sisters, a beautiful red chiffon and velvet long kameez with gold embroidery, accessorised with a nude silk scarf and matching heels! I absolutely love this outfit, which is from from Pakistani label Threads & Motifs, which is retailing in the shops nearby in London, as well as being available online, and the quality of this kameez really does show right down to the last stitch.

Oh, and this is me wearing it, in case you were interested!

I absolutely love the fall of the kameez (although the slits on the side right up to the hips did surprise me a bit!), and how long it was on me, at almost ankle-length - and it is definitely something I can imagine being able to keep over the years because of how flattering the shape and the colour is. I also like the addition of velvet as well, which makes it look a bit more luxurious, without it feeling too heavy or overdone.

I'm a big fan of the designs by Threads & Motifs, because of how every wearable their designs are, especially as a lot of them are long and not too fitted, which also makes them very comfortable. I've seen a lot of embroidery work on clothes, and I find the work that I have seen on this label's designs are very neatly done and look very pretty too. They're not cheap, retailing from £100 upwards in the high street, but I do think they appeal to a lot of people and the quality does show on their pieces.
