KAPRAY SHAPRAY: Sonam Kapoor in Sabyasachi for 'ELLE India'

I do like Sonam Kapoor's style, be it snappy Western wear or luxurious Asian clothes, which always manages to be well put together and looks elegant. Her latest photoshoot is for Elle India, in which she is dressed in one of my evergreen favourites, Sabyasachi, just continues to show her amazing outfits. I'm a big fan of maxi dresses (although I could be wrong and this is a very fitted lengha, although I don't think it is!), and this one looks great on Sonam - it cinches in at the waist and looks very flattering, not to mention glamorous.

I can certainly imagine this on a bride looking for something a little different, it's the traditional gold and red but slightly re-vamped for a much funkier look - what do you think of this?

BOLLYWOOD ISHTYLE: Sabyasachi in Cocktail

Sabyasachi has been getting a lot of coverage recently (there was a fashion show held by them in London recently too), and it's easy to see why the designs are so popular, with their beautiful prints, vivid colours and signature embroidery style, which is ideal for weddings and mehndis.

Cocktail, which was released earlier on this year actually has very few Asian outfits in it, although I did like the girls' trendy style in their western outfits which was put together and looked quite simple yet flattering.
The only Asian outfits which really stood out to me are these one, which are part of a song sequence at the end of the movie, featuring Deepika wearing Sabyasachi, and although I'm not too sure what Diane Penty is wearing, it looks like it could also be Sabyasachi. I love the styles of each outfits, both as different as the other; the colours put together on Diane's outfit are beautifully colourful and traditional, while Deepika's outfit remind me more of a fusion-style sari, which has a layers theme going on.

What do you think of these outfits? Deepika's outfit seems to be getting more praise in the Blogisphere, but I think that Diane's one appeals to me more because of the traditional colours of it.

FILMI DECOR: Marigold Galore in Patiala House

The wedding decor stood out for me in Patiala House, mainly because of the vivacity of colour and the co-ordination of the decor according to the scene. The mehndi scenes, for example, were filled with orange and green, and really capitalised on the use of marigold garlands, fairy lights and lanterns, which was a lovely combination. I also liked how the small details such as table and chair coverings, cushions and even the food and drink themselves all fit into this to complete the look, which looked pretty good combined with the outfits of the film.

Similarly, there is a theme of lights in this scene, in which fairy lights, lanterns and lamps are used to create the setting and accompany the family mood here. I also thought the backdrop of the Taj Mahal was a nice idea (although a little cheesy!):

Lastly, I liked the wedding day set up, which similar to the marigolds, make use of jasmine-style flowers and separated the colours in white and red, I'm assuming to compliment the bride's outfit.

I liked the first decor the most, mainly due to the look created by the marigold garlands and the lovely hanging lanterns. Which do you like the most?

FILMI DECOR: Wedding Event Planning Sets in Band Baaja Baraat

Band Baaja Baraat is about wedding planning and is a perfect film to watch if you need ideas and tips for any upcoming parties/mehndi nights/weddings that you need decor ideas for (although I would agree with one assertion by a character in the film that no matter how pretty a wedding looks, its the food that people will remember!) The film is full of luxurious fabrics, strings of fairy-lights and gorgeous hanging lanterns, flower arrangements and so much more, which give pretty inspiring ideas.

The first combination of colours and sets I would definitely look at is this wedding set-up which is designed in the film for a more 'higher class' of weddings, as I LOVE the colour co-ordination and the flowy fabrics:

Similarly, this white themed wedding look with the fairy lights strewn everywhere also really appealed to me. I also think the white hanging stars made the scene look really pretty:

But of course, the beauty of this film is also its vivacity of colour and its 'kitsch' and characteristic look.I love this tent of fairy lights and tinsel, which sounds quite tacky but actually is really colourful:

And of  course there are several other gorgeous looks in the film, such as this fairy-light covered canopy:

Not to mention this lovely, sparkling set which is meant to be the layout for a nikah:

The film has a heavy use of marigold garlands to decorate the sets, and a copious amount of fairy lights, but this is done fairly well to avoid it becoming too heavy or crowded. You can see the amount of  marigolds used here...!

I also liked this lime  green and gold with hanging pearls look here, which I think looked quite classy, complimented with traditional style sausage cushions and lovely glass lamps:

Not to mention this simple red-and-white flowers look here:

Lastly, I think that the one wedding set which really encompasses the spirit of the film and the vibrancy of the 'Shaadi Mubarak' is the one in the film's finale, which really goes all out:

Sorry if I just gave away the film's ending for those of you who haven't seen the film but...it's pretty obvious and we all saw it coming. I love the mad mix of colours that are going on here, the funky hangings and the colours lights, and I really think that although this is a bit disco-crazy, its also very pretty to look at and has the most spirit out of all the sets in this film. Hope this gave a few ideas to those of you looking for something new for a party!
