MEHNDI NIGHTS: A Rainbow Mehndi Marquee

I went to a friend's mehndi night a while ago (which was great fun, by the way!) although for me the fun started as soon as we walked into the marquee, because it was so beautifully and colourfully decorated. I've seen the rainbow theme done several times at various mehndi events, and in different ways, but I still think it's a beautiful one to do because of the amazing visual it gives.

I thought this marquee one was really sweet, as it was done by the bride's two brothers who decorated the whole marquee themselves using colourful drapes, and adding some pretty, sparkly cushions in the floor to relax on too. Because it was more of a relaxed, intimate do at the bride's home, this didn't need to be too jazzed up, and it felt just right for some fun, games and dancing (Excuse the grainy pictures and the random girl walking past, all I had was my mobile phone to take pictures and I didn't have time to take clearer pictures!)

The Mehndi Night

The mehndi night for my sister was a pretty affair, we had an Arabic style to the decor, but a very Punjabi style of dholki, dancing and music! It was quite a busy night, but we still managed to play some games and do some dancing - here's a few pictures! This is the lovely bride, in a traditional mehndi outfit from Pakistan, with gota style work all over.

The mehndi stage were in the main colours of hot pink, blue, purple and green, along with pretty lamps, umbrellas and cushions which looked beautiful.

These were just some of the mehndi thaals and bowls of petals, although we also had a huge thaal with bangles and mehndi in the middle to put on the bride's hand.

The candy bar was extremely popular, and got attacked by all the guests - there was nothing left by the end of the night! I thought the 'mehndi hands' biscuits were especially cute, as well as the pretty lollipops.

The fruit table created by my sister in law, who cut up the fruit in an artful way to feed the bride with - this also got demolished by the end of the night!

The favour bags, which were in the main colours (pink, purple, green and blue), and also some flower-bracelets made by ourselves to give to the guests, made from colourful flowers.

This is just a few of the pictures of the night, which ended on a naughty game of pass-the-parcel and a lot of improvised dancing! It's not over yet though, there's several dholki nights that are taking place this week, which means more fun :)

MEHNDI NIGHTS: Mehndi Stages - Organza & Fairy Lights

This is a mehndi stage for a close friend's Mehndi night I went to recently, which was held in her (surprisingly large) back garden. The use of draped organza fabric and pretty flowers and fairy light strands resulted in a lovely stage. I really liked the multi-coloured strands of material draped across the marquee to give a very girly, pretty look, against the pale colour of the rest of the marquee. A lovely stage and a great night had by all :)
