KAPRAY SHAPRAY: An Icy Display by Phulkari London

I walked past this pretty display by Phulkari London yesterday, and thought it was appropriate, icy blues for cold winter season! I didn't get the chance to find out which designer created these pieces (I'll try to find out though), but I loved the 1930s feel of these outfits, they're a perfect fusion of vintage glamour and Indian couture. I love the third dress the most, the patterns running along the front are beautiful and I love high round-neckline.

I'd love to wear something like this to an office party this month - what do you think of these?

KAPRAY SHAPRAY: Mint Green Gown by Phulkari

I do like Phulkari's range of dresses, both bridal and formal, and this dreamy mint green gown is a perfect example of why - it's elegant, it's not too heavy and the cut is just lovely. I'm not sure who teh exact designer of this piece is (let me know if you do!), but I've seen similar designs in Phulkari's store in East London in nudes and mink browns in different various that I've loved, and this is just as beautiful.

I also like the fact that while the model's hair and accessories are very simple, she also has some pretty red lips to go with the dress, which I think works wonderfully. Something to wear to a wedding reception or a registry, perhaps.

FASHION'S PASSIONS & PATTERNS: The 1920s' Style Dresses by Paras & Shalini

I'm really liking Phulkari's latest addition to their collection of designers - duo Paras and Shalini, who seem to have a really different style to most things I have seen on the high street. Admittedly, I haven't heard of these two designers before, but I do like what I've seen of them so far, both online and instore at Phulkari.

I've seen the words 'vintage' and 'fusion' styles thrown around a lot when it comes to Asian fashion, but I think they would fit these designer's outfits quite well - the maxi dresses here are cut well, they look beautifully elegant, and there's something about them which have an convincing 1920s style to it which I find very refreshing. I've shown these to several friends and acquaintances of mine, and they all love these dresses - perhaps because they are so simple yet very flattering, and perhaps also because they are a nice change to the usual dresses we've seen in the high street too.

I think my favourites are the two dusky pink dresses at the top, although I've seen a few other designs in the shop which I also love, and which also have a 1920's and 30s' theme to them which I love. I like that these dresses are also very hijab friendly, it would be easy to add some longer sleeves on them and wear them as they are, as they are modest yet also have a good cut.

What do you think of this duo's designs?

KAPRAY SHAPRAY: Peacock Lengha by Sabyasachi

Another outfit being retailed by the wonderful Phulkari in East London, this time by one of my favourite designers, Sabyasachi, the Peacock lengha. I love how vibrant this outfit is, it'd be ideal as both a wedding outfit as well as a mehndi outfit for a bride, and it's easy to imagine a colourful, fun night with a bride dressed like this. I've also seen this outfit in the shop up close, and it looks just as beautiful as it does here, full of intricate detail and rich fabric.

What do you think of this outfit?

HIGH STREET DESIGNS: Joy Mitra's Colourful Combos

I'm really liking these colourful and very simple anarkalis and Punjabi-style salwar kameezes by Indian designer Joy Mitra, which I've been walking past for a few weeks now in London's Phulkari. I think these would look really amazing if worn at a mehndi, it would be really easy to put these together and the brighter the colours, the better! I also like how uncluttered these outfits are, and how effective they look together because it's such an easy, simple look. Less really can be more, sometimes.

DESIGNER MODE: Dreamy Designs by Abdul Halder

I really like the dreamy style of these outfits as designed by Indian designer Abdul Halder, mixing the traditional styles with the modern for a range that suits everyone. I've seen a few of this designer's outfits retailing at Phulkari London, and I like the pretty colours and the flowy styles which are available in various colours. Although the prices for his outfits are not cheap, I like the spectrum of styles which would appeal to a lot of people, and the fact that he designs for both men and women.

I loved this series of pictures featuring the designer's outfits at beautiful locations (the first one is my favourite, at Umaid Bhawan palace in Rajasthan), mixing romance, weddings and beautiful locations. My favourite picture (and outfits!) is the first one, which one is yours?

LOVELY HIJAB: Scarves from Phulkari

Here's a scarf my sister got recently from the lovely shop Phulkari in East London, which were selling some BEAUTIFUL, soft cotton scarves which were nice and light, and perfect for the summer heat.

There were a few different designs, but this is the one she liked in the end, and I think the colours look really fab. I may have to steal it soon...

HIGH STREET DESIGNS: Phulkari London in Vanity Magazine

Phulkari is shop near to where I live, which sells primarily designer clothes and bespoke pieces. I mainly like some of the Indian designers such as Shyamal & Bhumika, who have an elegant, rich style which really appeals to me, with some of their funky and their traditional pieces. Some of the designs which the shop has is displayed below, taken from Vanity Magazin.
I will be posting more about this store at a later point, until then, enjoy the outfits :)
